As the Milwaukee Baseball League embarks on its eighth independent season much is going on. The league has expanded to add a Veterans Division for players over the age of 25 and is also working on a project to repair Zirkel Field in West Allis. The MBL split its division format to have a Sunday division- the National, and a Saturday night division- the American to facilitate better scheduling options for players. In particular, the American Division has become inviting for Lakes players looking for more games to play. The league is running a slight surplus and is working towards further controlled expansion in the future.
The season opens Friday night, April 30 at Zirkel Field as league veterans from Leff's Lucky Town take on an expansion veterans team, the Milwaukee Mudhens. Other games play throughout the weekend.
Players, please spend a little time at the park for games other than your own this season and let's build the Milwaukee Baseball League into the athletic, social and networking activity it can be.
Fans, please come on out and see some of the best amateurs in the area play America's pastime.
