Opening Weekend - April 30, May 1-2

American

Town and Lake Realty Braves: 23  North Shore Bullfrogs: 8

The Braves opened their season on a good note. They started the game going though the first 8 batters without making an out. Scored 7 runs in the first. The Braves scored in all 7 innings. Noteables for the Braves hitters are Nick Voltner 3-6 2 2B's, single, 2 runs and a RBI. Chris Samz 2-6 3 runs, single and a 3 run HR in the top of the 7th. Paul Mallas pitched 4 inningsgiving up only 2 hits and 2 unearned runs. For the Bullfrogs Andy Budnik went 3-5 2 singles and a 2B, 1 run and a RBI.

Leff's Lucky Town: 5  Brew City Indians 4

Leff’s Lucky Town opened the 2010 season with a well played one run victory, 5-4, over the Brew City Indians, Saturday night at Zirkel Field. Mike Schroeder earned the victory for Leff’s, tossing a complete game while stranding the tying run at third base by inducing a pop out for the final out. Schroeder’s final line included six hits allowed, two earned runs while striking out four. Greg Ketz paced the Leff’s offense, going 2 for 3 with a single, double and two RBI’s. Schroeder also helped his own cause with two hits, including an RBI. Solomon Juarez led the Indians, going 2 for 4 with single and a home run.

National

Brown Deer Supreme Builders: 10  Steakout Black Sox: 2

Supreme Builder's ace Brendon Dorn threw a complete game allowing four hits and one earned run to get the win. More impressively, he only allowed two runs to come across as his defense commited five errors. Their bats were led by Jordy Haizel (2-3, 3 RBI), rookie Mike Krause (2-3, 2Runs ), Chad Olson (2-3, 2B, 2 runs), and Colin Moser (2-3). For the Steakout Black Sox, Jeff Micher led their team hitting by going 2 for 4 with one run scored.


O'Brien's Milwaukee Harley Davidson: 10  St. Francis A's: 3

Joe Vilkoski homered in his first at bat in an Orioles uniform to lead the way to an opening day win. Vilkoski hit his solo shot into a strong wind in left to score the Orioles first run of the season. Vilkoski also doubled in his Oriole debut and finished with 3 RBI. Chris Vogt (2 H, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB) and John O\'Conner (2 H, 2 R) led the well balanced offense which had at least one hit by nine different players. Dan Wilfrath picked where he left off last season scattering five hits in six innings while walking none and allowing three unearned runs in the third inning. Rookie Bryan Macpherson pitched a scoreless seventh in his Oriole debut. A's Pitcher Shawn Kozey pitched a complete game allowing 10 runs but only four earned. Kozey also had two hits in the losing cause.

Allstar Sportswear: 5  Johnny V's: 0

Allstar Sportswear got off to a good start to the season with a 5-0 win over Johnny V's Sunday. Brian Curran pitched a complete game shutout allowing five hits and striking out seven. The defense also played well with two outfield assists each by Rich Galewski and Pat Curran.  The offense was lead by Mitch Monroe with his three run home run.


Veterans

Club Paragon Aces: 21  Leff's Luckytown Vets: 6

The Club Paragon Aces won their first game of the season, which was the first of the franchise. Great pitching performances by Ryan Roufus and Tyler Ray paved the way for them, striking out six hitters total. Multi-hit days by Steve Laabs, Brian Peters, Adam Borchardt and Mike Grabek drew several runs with speed around the basepath by Kurt Kappeler and Brad Krutsch.  Bryan Ureda had 2 hits for Leff's Lucky Town.


Varsity Club Hornets: 17  Southshore Vets: 4

The Varsity Club Hornets used 10 hits and 13 walks to get a 17 to 4 opening day victory versus the Southshore Vets. BJ Klement pitched 6 innings striking out 9. He took a no hitter till the final out when it was broken up with a base hit. Kevin Moore, Steve Budny and Tony Lopez all had multiple hit games for the Hornets.  Budnyalso drove in 4 runs and Kevin Moore drove in 3. Tony Lopez scored three times for the Hornets.
