O'Brien's / Milwaukee Harley Davidson 17 Leff's Lucky Town 11

Welcome to the Chris Sanders show.  In one of the weekend's slugfests, Chris Sanders padded his career stats going 3-3 with a double, triple, and a three-run homerun to lead O'Briens/Milwaukee HD to a win. Sanders also walked twice and had 7 RBI and three runs scored.  He needed only the hard to get single to hit for the cycle but settled for the walks instead. Mike Drover had three hits, Chris Vogt scored four runs, and Dan Wilfrath struck out eight for O'Brien's. The game started out close with O'Brien's holding a 6-2 lead after four innings before the late offensive explosion against the bullpens.

Long Wongs 3 Town & Lake Realty / Greco's Braves 2

For the second time in as many nights Long Wongs took a one run game.  All-league pitcher Joe Brand outdueled Brave's ace Paul Mallas to get the win.  Brand fired six strikouts on the night allowing five hits, and set down the final six in a row to finish strong.  Brand was aided by a solid defense and right fielder Adam Graves' two diving catches.  Long Wongs got all of their runs in the fourth inning with Brand's double driving in two. League TWIB note: Commissioner Kirk Spano played his second consecutive full game without sustaining an injury.  He plans to avoid playing back to back days again this year.

Johnny V's 5 Lessard's Auto / Brass Monkey 1

Johnny V's beat Brass Monkey 5-1 win in a well played game. Brass Monkey took 1-0 lead in the fist but Johnny V's came back with 3 in the 3rd inning and 2 more in the 5th. Dan Goral pitched a complete game 3-hitter to lead Johnny V's while Brass Monkey's Klein pitched a solid 5 innings.

Jimmy B's Trail's End 18 Club Paragon 3

Jimmy B's bats were hot as they were able to score in six of the seven innings and mutiple runs in four innings. Jimmy B's got two hit games from Jeremy Kroll and Joe Cefalu, three hits each from Dallas Hacker and Brandon Hall- inlcuding a home run, and four hits from Jared Lepak. Adam Miller got his second win of the year pitching 4 innings with Alex Arcano finishing the last three.

PJ's Tigers 18 Supreme Builders 11

In another Saturday night slugfest, PJ's Tigers won a battle that went back and forth with the final score being decided by PJ's with 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th Inning breaking a 11-11 tie. Richard Please came in relief of Steve Rappl- who turned in five gutty innings to earn the win, pitching 2 innings of shutout relief work on 3 K's. Leading the way hitting for PJ's was lead off hitter Andy Monigal going 3-3 with 4 Stolen Bases, 1 hit by pitch, 1 walk, 3 runs & 4 RBI. Also helping out hitting was Richard Please & Scott Rappl both going 2-4 with 4 RBI each. Cory McEwen was 2-5 with 2 Doubles & 2 RBI's, Matt Durasco 3-5 with 1 Stolen Base, Kevin Tapper went 2-4 & 1 RBI, Steve Rappl went 1-2 with 2 Hit by Pitchs & 1 walk, Nick Lagermaier went 1-3 with 2 walks & 1 RBI, Jason Maaske went 1-4 with 1 RBI & 1 Sacrife Fly. PJ's Tigers had 16 hits in the game all together & evened their record out now at (2-2) overall.

The Steakout 8 Varsity Club 3

The revamped Steakout squad (formerly Tracks) opened their season with an impressive victory over The Varsity Club Bulldogs. Chad Torn looked good on the hill as he turned in a complete game allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs. The Steakout offense was lead by All League teamer Jeff Michor, who was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Newcomers Kent Gordon and Joe Roech both had 2 hits a piece. Steakout broke the game open with scoring 5 in the third and 2 in the 4th for a 7-1 lead. Varsity Club threatened in the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded and nobody out, but were only able to score 2 runs before Torn was able to refind his form and close the door on the Bulldogs for an 8-3 victory.

Friday, May 16th

Club Paragon 9 O'Brien's / Milwaukee Harley Davidson 4

On a perfect night for baseball, rivals Club Paragon nabbed a win from one of the veteran teams of the league. A big eight run second inning gave the Phillies the momentum for the remainder of the game. With Mike Jelacic on third, with one away, Mike Grabek punched a single to drive in a run. Tom Gaszak also helped the cause with an RBI single the same inning, and Troy Schmitt brought in two more. For O'Brien's, Jim Rinelli drove in a run on a fielders choice, scoring Jon Stocks, and Chris Sanders continued to do what he does best, driving in two runs in the bottom of the seventh, on a triple to the right center gap. Bret Huotari threw the complete game, giving up six hits and two walks while striking out five.

PJ's Tigers 12 Milwaukee Patriots 4

In the game of the week PJ's Tigers played a great overall game. Leading the way for PJ's Tigers pitching was Kevin Tapper who earned the win (1-0) pitched 5 1/3 Innings giving up 4 runs (2 earned), on five hits and having 7 K's. Then former Taylor County College Career Hits Leader Richard Please came in relief of Tapper & pitched 1 2/3 Innings of shutout work. Cory McEwen finished the 7th Inning off with a 1, 2, 3 Inning. Leading the way hitting for PJ's was former Ripon College player Cory McEwen who was 3-4 with 1 double, 2 runs & 5 RBI. Also helping out hitting was league veteran Scott Rappl going 1-4 with 2 RBI & former Ripon College player Andy Monigal with 2 stolen bases & 1 RBI, 2 hits & 2 runs. Former Ripon College player Eric Cluppert also had a great day defensively turning a key unassisted double play in the 5th Inning & offensively scoring 3 runs.  PJ's catcher Cory Sumtner was 2-4 with 3 RB, 1 Double & 1 Run. PJ's is (1-2) overall now with this 1st win in Tigers history.

Long Wongs 9 Varsity Club 8

Both teams struggled in the field as the lack of outdoor practice time this spring lingered.  Long Wongs Greg Ketz turned in a gutty performance throwing 162 pitches and getting the complete game victory.  Ketz struck out five batters on the night, all for the final out of an inning.  In the third inning, trailing 4-0, Long Wongs capitalized for eight runs, all coming with two outs.  John Kuhn and Ketz had important hits to drive in runs. In an important defensive play, Long Wongs catcher Bruce Smeby gunned Varsity Club lead-off man at second attempting to steal in the 4th, to help thwart a rally.  Long Wongs final tally came on clean-up hitter Adam Graves' home run to the power alley in left field, which proved to be the decisive run.
